Catching a Wave |
|
As I sit here, it is such a beautiful morning. The water is shimmering
with sunlight. The waves are rolling in all different degrees of heighth.
I can see three people floating on their surfboards trying to catch that
perfect wave. It all brings so much familiarity to me in regards to my
life. How many times have I tried to catch the perfect wave of life only
to find that it was one of those that crashed amongst the rocks? Better
yet, how many hours, days or years did I just float around in life waiting
to be taken into the right direction of the path where I was to be?
As the surfers have determination to catch the perfect wave, I have found
determination in my life. I have learned not to settle for less than I
deserve. I have learned I can have expectations from relationships I find
myself in. I have learned I can love myself. I have learned that I can
truly be loved by someone else.
As we learn in Empowered Recovery, it all starts with loving yourself
enough to make the decision to make a choice. Which wave do you want to
catch today? The wave that will take you to freedom or the wave that will
crash once again into the rocks?
I have had an awesome time here in the beautiful state of Maine. I have
two days left to enjoy the wonders of the ocean. As I sit here and reflect
this morning, it is a great feeling to know that I have caught the perfect
wave in my life. I am enjoying discovering who I am.
Won’t you grab your surfboard in life and join me? Be patient. There will
be waves that come along and crash. There will be ones that take you for a
short jaunt. However the ultimate one is waiting for you. Take the time to
be still. Take the time to listen to your heart. You will see it. You will
feel it. Before you know it, you will be truly enjoying the ride of a
lifetime.
As they say “Surf’s Up”. Let’s go catch a wave!
