Robin's Realm

The Fears

They are there deep within
Within me and he
Some shared
Some felt alone

All people have them
I am no different
Nor is he

Why is it that we fear?
What is it we fear?

Is it rejection?
Is it not being able to be me?

Is it remembering
how our pasts have been?
The hurts and pain
the rejections we have faced
Why do we let our minds race?

It is natural they say
To have fears
and feel this way
Am I afraid?
Is he?
Why do we allow the fears
To swarm within us
like a raging sea

To be able to talk
To be able to communicate
To be able to share
Really helps the fears
Calm down deep within

They both have
had their struggles in life
With some moments holding much strife

He and she
Must know reality
That life is different now
They found that out tonight
As they talked and laughed
and shared

The lessons learned from the past
were shared tonight
So much was talked about
Even about what happens
when two become
man and wife

Her biggest fear was
I don’t want to be hurt again
His was the fear of falling in love again
Giving his all
Being best friends, then lovers
then man and wife
then finding out in the end
I don’t want you after all

How they must both must feel
Looking with anticipation
Facing their fears together

A common bond has already
been formed
Even without being physically together
They are taking the time to share
To know
To understand
To listen
To care

This is what it takes
To overcome
That word called Fear
Two people
Trying to become one
To always be there
Even if just in a fleeting thought
To know that even if not in the same room together
The thoughts of one another will be there forever
